16 Nov Global Anthology Launch – GEMS Unearthed: Stories of Women Shaping the Future of Mining
The GEMS Unearthed website is now live!
GEMS Unearthed: Stories of Women Shaping the Future of Mining is a dynamic, evolving, collection of stories from women across the global mining landscape; leaders, innovators, and early career contributors, whose experiences have shaped the industry’s past and are defining and re-defining its present and future.
Imagine a virtual library without boundaries… a place where each collection of stories is unique…
…a place where each reader can curate their own bespoke GEMS anthology by selecting stories from the archive using endlessly unique combinations of filters extending beyond authors into universal themes, industry roles, country or language of origin, or create a book by company or professional association.
A continually expanding and organically growing archive of stories that can be compiled both digitally and in print, GEMS Unearthed invites the exploration and documentation of the many facets of women in mining, revealing previously unknown details and new brilliance with every angle.
More than a record of professional milestones, GEMS captures the human dimension of mining; the courage, creativity, and conviction that drive women to lead and transform one of the world’s most enduring and complex sectors.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
Contact Michelle today! The first step in the GEMS experience is to sign-up for a writing workshop that supports your storytelling process in a community of fellow GEMS authors.
The Workshops: Each GEMS writing workshop experience consists of 2 modules: Module 1 is a 7-hour instructional workshop introducing story structure, memory invoking exercises, a variety of expressive writing techniques, as well as time to write. Module 2 is a 4 hour follow-up workshop, to share your work and/or receive group feedback in a safe and supportive space. Offerings will take place both in-person and online.
Participate in two ways: Write your own story (autobiographical), or pair-up with an industry friend or colleague and write each others’ story. GEMS will be pleased to help facilitate ‘matches’ for writing partners… sometimes it’s not easy to be objective about your own life!
